Transformation

Modernizing with technology requires companies to tackle the “total scope” of the work.

Though most companies have tech transformations underway, many of challenged to meet the objectives due to delays, cost overruns, and underwhelming results. Most transformations face these challenges because they:
  • Tend to focus narrowly on only a portion of the scope, taking a piecemeal approach to transformations.
  • Lack the business-backing and commitment to the changes.
  • Lack the level of clarity and detail that’s needed to run such projects.

The “B.A.D.T”
Transformation Framework

Today’s enterprises are a complex network of interdependencies between people, processes and systems. Successful transformations need to have a clear view of this web and be able to make improvements to multiple things well at the same time – this is where we fit in.

Our tech-enabled Digital Transformation Framework, is a battle tested playbook that has a proven track record in helping our clients succeed with transformation initiatives.

We have distilled our two decades of experience in transformation projects, into the framework – it consist of 4 main areas – Business (B), Applications (A), Data (D), Technology Infrastructure (T) and contains 12 main objectives.

Reimagine the Future

+

Business & Technology Strategy

  • Develop a sound understanding of the business’s strategic goals and the technology changes needed to deliver on them.
  • Understand the opportunity for growth, the changes needed to get there, and the key challenges to overcome.
  • Define how technology can help and clearly define how it can improve performance and contain costs.
+

Dependent Initiatives & Roadmap

  • Scope the work to something that’s aggressive but manageable.
  • Breakdown the transformation into smaller initiatives. Drill in and identify any other dependent initiatives. to understand what needs to be in place to enable further progress.
  • Sequence work into a roadmap.
+

Budgeting & Finance

  • Develop budgets that balance the business case value with the implementation effort.
  • Apportion costs by OPEX and CAPEX.

Reimagine Strategy & Roles

+

Organize people by products or platforms

  • Organize teams around products and platforms, remove traditional functional and organizational silos that slow down transformations.
+
Reimagine Metrics & KPIs
  • Redefine success metrics and KPIs to measure the new operating model rather than keeping alive older measures.
+

Talent &  Partnerships

  • Plan the talent needed to support the new model.
  • Source and or reskill teams in preparation.
  • Transition technology partnerships to be outcome-based rather than time and materials.

Reimagine how work is done

+

Modernize processes & systems

  • Make improvements to processes and systems.
  • Help users adapt and adjust to the changes,
+

Modernize Delivery

  • Establish practices and processes that enable teams to deliver and operate technology solutions better, faster, and cheaper
  • Design modular, API-driven architecture for innovation and renewal of the core to implement next-gen capabilities, drive reuse and standardization, and reduce tech debt.

Future proof the foundation

+

Adopt platforms built on cloud architecture

  • Transformation solutions will change and evolve many times over. However, it needs to do so without ripping and replacing the underlying technology
  • Evaluate and select the right set of technology platforms that will serve the need but also be flexible enough to change.
  • Pick best-in-class cloud-based, low code platforms and SaaS solutions.
+

Data & Analytics capabilities on the cloud

  • Reduce the multiple data stores and reporting silos
  • Reduce historical batch and real-time integrations complexity involved in moving data around.
  • Benefit from Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to improve the quality of the data, and its governance.
  • Make self-service easier and more reliable.
+

Integration capabilities in the cloud

  • Reduce integration complexity by selecting cloud-based low code integration platforms.
  • Promote consistent standards and re-use
+

Cybersecurity

  • Build security seamlessly into solutions so that security and privacy protections is baked, rather than adding them after solutions development is complete.

Industrial Client succeeds with their transformation initiatives

Our Client, is a global organization celebrating 100 years of developing industry standards, testing and certifying products’ compliance to safety and performance standards. With age comes complexity of legacy systems – making it more challenging for technology to help improve business performance. We laid the future proof foundation for using a Cloud-First Architecture for application and Integration development. We set in motion projects to digitize the core business, improve business performance, launch new information products and explore and exploit emerging technologies.
case example

Ontario Regulator succeeds in standing up a modern Digital Platform.

Our Client, a regulatory authority in Ontario governing home builders, set a vision to be a modern regulator and needed the right technology and data platforms to support that vision. Using the B.A.D.T framework we devised a state-of-the-art but lean, cloud-first low code foundational architecture. The work of standing up their digital capabilities was then sub-divided into workstreams, and roadmap defined that balanced scope, time, and cost. Architectures and designs were developed for their CRM, Information Sharing & Integration, Online Portals, Document Management, Cloud Hosting, Networking and & Security. We oversaw the implementation projects to ensure that construction matched the designs.
